Electric Eels travel to Newcastle

Kai Gill, Marketing & Communication Officer

This weekend will see Electric Eels both first team and Academy team travel to Newcastle for the second round of North East Regional League. The first team will continue their progress in the North East Premiership by facing Leeds Chariots at 12 PM, then later in the day face Newcastle at 2 PM. The academy team will kick start their North East Championship 2018/19 campaign by facing Darlington at 12 PM, then later in the day face Middlesborough discovery at 2 PM.

Lee Brennan has praised the team for their efforts within preseason and has highlighted the challenges Eels will face on Sunday. Lee said: " We face a long trek up to Newcastle on Sunday morning. The first team had a reasonable start to the season with a couple of draws. If we'd have taken our chances we probably would be sat with 6 pts. So that's an area where we need to improve.

" The First team games this weekend are against a strong Leeds team and always tough-to-beat Newcastle. Our Academy team start their campaign this weekend with games against Darlington and Boro Discovery so we hope they can getoff to a flying start. We've had to reshuffle both teams due to injuries and absences and our Academy team is actually stronger for it. Let's hope both team come away with good results. "
