Meet Our Players: George

Hull & East Yorkshire PFC would like to introduce to you George as the latest Q&A feature in Meet Our Players series. George is an academy team player and competes with his team-mates in the North East League 1 Development and Yorkshire Development League.

How long have you been playing powerchair football?

Since 2014. So about 6 years I think.

What do you enjoy the most about powerchair football?

I love being in the team and being with my friends playing a sport we love football.

Why should someone who has a physical disability, and uses a wheelchair on a daily basis try powerchair football?

It’s such a great game to play. Plus it’s lots of fun no matter what.

How has powerchair football changed your life?

I have made a lot of great friends and I absolutely love wearing the club badge playing for the team. I just love it.

What’s your favourite memory of the club?

It’s got to be when we won the league and I scored my first goal for the club. Unreal feeling.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Still playing for the club and possibly in the first team that’s my aim. I've got to keep training hard and impress my coaches; Lee and Kai.

How did it feel when you first tried powerchair football?

I was nervous at first but once I got used to the clapped and chair I couldn’t wait to play.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I once met and spoke to the Queen.

What are your hobbies away from powerchair football?

I love spending time with brother James and my friend. Also, I have many hobbies such as snooker, cricket, football I’m a big Man United Fan and love listening to music.

What have you been doing during lockdown?

I’m been baking, playing football in the garden, and spending time with my brother James. I’ve also been going for walks.

We would like to thank George for answering our questions during lockdown. It's clear to see that George has a great passion for the game and aims to push for a first team spot.

Our next Meet Our Players post will be on Friday when we meet one of our first team players.
