Optegra Championship Gameweek 1 Review

Hull & East Yorkshire PFC first team were in Nottingham on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September for the start of the 2024/25 Optegra Championship season. The Electric Eels had five matches across the weekend in Gameweek 1 facing GBG Knights, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, Manchester City and WBA Dudley.


Hull & East Yorkshire first team players who have have a medical condition. The players are sat in specialised powerchairs, wearing orange match shirts.
Hull & East Yorkshire PFC first team

The team was; Aston, Callum, Emma, Harry, Joel, Joe, Kai, Luke and Steve. It was a weekend of debuts for some of our players; Callum and Harry made their national league debuts while, Aston, Joe and Steve made their club debuts.


On Saturday 7th September, the first team kick started their Optegra Championship season against GBGKnights at 10:40am. Despite, a promising start Electric Eels had many chances to score in the opening 10 minutes but, failed to get through GBG Knights defence. The first half saw both teams try to play a pass flowing style which, was great for the spectators to watch. On the 17th minute, Knights won a corner and following two attempts were able to score 18th minute from a great set piece. This saw GBG Knights enter halftime 1-0 up. The second half saw GBG Knights settle into the match with a flurry of goals resulting in a 5-0 win for the opposition.


Next up was against Manchester City, which was a very close game. Both teams battled for the full forty minutes seeing some passing, spin kicks but, Eels capitalised on opening the opposition up. Captain Kai, dribbled with the ball in Nottingham Forest box and a knock from the opposition goalkeeper saw a penalty given. Kai took the penalty which, saw him score his first goal of the 2024/25 season. In the second half, Aston scored a goal following finding a gap behind the opposition defender. Full time result: Nottingham Forest 0 - Hull & East Yorkshire PFC 2.


Final match of Saturday for Eels was at 3:20pm against Manchester United PFC. A match which saw both. teams battle it out but, Manchester United was the side who came away with three points following 3 goals.



On Sunday first up for the first team was against Manchester City, which was a very close game. Both teams battled for the full forty minutes seeing some passing, spin kicks but, defence from each sides saw the match result in a worthy 0-0 draw.


The final match of Gameweek 1 for Hull & East Yorkshire PFC was against WBA Dudley. This was described by many a very good match which, saw both sides battle on the pitch for the full forty minutes in a worth 2 - 2 draw. Aston and Joel scored for Hull & East Yorkshire PFC.
