The WFA National League Championship Round 1 Preview

Hull & East Yorkshire Powerchair Football Club first team, Electric Eels kick-off their 2022/23 campaign this upcoming weekend. The Wheelchair Football Association National League Championship Round 1 will see Electric Eels face four matches in round 1 at the Lee Westwood Sports Centre, Nottingham Trent University.



On Saturday 3rd September, Electric Eels kick-off their first game at 9:15:am against Leeds Dynamos. Later in the day, they face Muscle Warriors at 1pm.


Finishing round 1 on Sunday 4th September, Electric Eels face St George Knights at 9:15am. Later in the day, they face Sale United.


Electric Eels first team captain, gives thanks to the coaching staff and praises his teammates after what has been a good preseason for the team. Kai Gill, said: " We have had a very good pre season special thanks must go to our head coach Lee, and his assistant Robbie who have spent many hours planning the training sessions. Hayden has joined the club and slotted straight into our first team. He's trained really hard with us getting used to the style we play and understanding our calls. Overall, as a team I have been very impressed by what I've seen and the energy including ideas each player has brought to the session to lift the pace plus creativity. "


Kai states with four tough matches in the opening round, Electric Eels must be on their game to bring home the points. Kai said: " We have four matches against very good teams, Leeds Dynamos, Muscle Warriors, St George Knights, and Sale United. We know we must be on our game to get the results we want. It's all about having trust, faith in each other and that synergy is with all the team plus coaching staff. The hard work starts now and putting everything we have been working on in pre season into the matches. I know the team will do their best.”


Kai gave special thanks to the support the club have received from the commercial partners and 100 club members ahead of the first team season. He said: " As a club, we would like to thank the support we have received from our partners and 100 club members. Your support means a lot and the players will carry this onto the matches."
